Jay Farrar (of Son Volt)
Often described as folk country or alternative country, in the way of Bob Dylan or Neil Young, Farrar began his career in 1987 as part of a group named Uncle Tupelo. After splitting in 1994, several members went on to form the band Wilco, while Farrar created Son Volt. The band has seen success on the indie and folk rock circuits with offerings like Trace and their latest Honky Tonk, though Farrar has recorded and toured as a solo artist as well.
